The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) warplanes have bombed and destroyed Al-Shabaab training camp in Somalia in retaliation for September’s terror attack on Westgate Mall, where 70 people were killed and scores wounded by terrorists.
Speaking yesterday, KDF Spokesman,
Colonel Cyrus Oguna, noted that the Kenyan drone strike on Thursday
killed several Al-Shabaab terrorists destroying the training camp where
Al-Shabaab organized the Westgate Mall attack.
“We have been monitoring this area for
some time and we moved in when we got the green light. This is the same
area where Al-Shabaab attackers at Westgate did their training”, said
The camp had over 300 Al-Shabaab
terrorist fighters many of who were killed and only a few survived with
serious injuries in the attack.
However, the Al-Shabaab denied there having been any attack on their training camp, saying it was mere propaganda by KDF.
“No military of ours in Somalia was air struck or attacked”, said a senior Al-Shabaab fighter.
